Living in a time when selfies are everywhere, if you have submental fat (also called a “double chin”), then you may be thinking about how you can quickly get the slim, tight facial features you’ve always wanted to show off on your social media accounts. If you’ve tried dieting and exercise but all your self-sacrifice and sweat has done nothing to help you meet your goals, then you need to hear about an incredible new treatment option! William Bruno Plastic Surgery near Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and West Hollywood is proud to offer KYBELLA®, the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment method that destroys fat cells in the treatment area underneath the chin, creating an improved appearance and attractive profile for patients.

Both men and women can be affected by submental fullness under their chin. Genetics, age, and weight gain can all influence the amount of fat stored in the “double chin” area. On top of that, the under chin area is notoriously difficult to shrink with diet and exercise alone. But with treatment using KYBELLA®, men and women can rapidly destroy these stubborn fat cells resulting in a sleek, youthful appearance.

How Does KYBELLA® Work?

KYBELLA® is an incredible new treatment that targets the under chin area. When injected into the treatment area, KYBELLA® goes to work seeking out and destroying fat cells so they can’t store or collect fat anymore.

The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that helps our bodies absorb and break down dietary fat. One of the best parts about KYBELLA® treatment is that after treatment, the fat is cleared away from the area using your body’s natural metabolism.

Is KYBELLA® Effective?

KYBELLA® has been approved by the FDA as an injectable treatment to help improve the profile and overall appearance of the area underneath the chin. KYBELLA® has been tested and evaluated in over 20 clinical studies and over 1,600 people around the world have been treated using KYBELLA®. Beverly Hills patients can rest assured that KYBELLA® has been studied and tested extensively using some of the most rigorous best practices available.

How Many KYBELLA® Treatments Are Needed?

Dr. Bruno works with every patient to discuss their goals and medical history. From there, he will develop a treatment plan using their unique needs and will recommend how many treatment sessions are required. The number of treatments depends on several factors, including how much submental fat is present and where it is distributed. Most patients require two or three treatments to get their desired result.

KYBELLA® is administered right in our office, only a short drive from Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and West Hollywood. The application process usually only takes 15 to 20 minutes and requires no downtime afterward.

What Happens After KYBELLA® Treatment?

Swelling is the most common issue that patients experience immediately after their treatment with KYBELLA®. Beverly Hills patients can use ice packs for 10 or 15 minutes to help reduce the swelling.

Dr. Bruno will sometimes use local anesthesia before administering KYBELLA® to reduce discomfort. He may also recommend that you take an over-the-counter pain reliever before your appointment as well.

Patients Who Should Not Receive KYBELLA®

Patients are advised to tell their doctor or other healthcare provider about any and all medical conditions, including:

  • If you have had or plan to have any surgery on your face, neck, or chin.

  • If you have medical conditions that impact your neck area.
