A: when to have a facelift
As patients age, the facial skin and soft tissue begins to sag and atrophy (shrink). Some people may have loose skin of their neck and lower face with jowls and also a sunken appearance in the cheek/lower eyelid area. Most patients only need a small amount of skin removal- what they really need is for the soft tissue under their skin to be elevated and repositioned. At the same time, many patients also need a fat transfer to this area to restore some of the lost volume. Usually the best time to have a facelift is before you really need a facelift. This could be in their early 40’s or sometime in their 50’s. The age is not as important as the quality of their skin and soft tissue position.
