What will a breast lift do for me?

Many women ask me if they can regain the breast shape they once had before pregnancy. Some women lose size (volume) and also develop loose, sagging skin with a drop in their nipple position. A breast lift (mastopexy) is a great procedure to elevate the breast tissue and nipple position to restore a more youthful breast shape. Occasionally this is combined with a breast implant if a woman needs to restore some lost volume which can result from pregnancy and breast feeding. The surgery is done under general anesthesia (asleep) and takes anywhere from 2-3 hours. Most patients take about three days off from work to recover. The incisions from the breast lift heal quite well because breast skin is very thin.  Although the scars are not invisible, they do fade after about one year. The improvement in breast shape is well worth the incisions needed to deliver this type of result. Many women can go without a bra for certain outfits and dresses after a breast lift.
