I was to get saline implants without the texture. Today when I went to doctor he said he put in natrell textured saline implants and I specifically asked not to have that. I need to know about this kind of an implant. I am upset because of this and need to know more. Thanks Jean

A: textured saline implants

Textured breast implants can have a lower incidence of capsular contracture, which is a hard shell of scar tissue which can form around the implant.  This type of implant is preferred when placing an implant in a subglandular (above the muscle) position. When inserting an implant under the pectoral muscle, smooth implants are preferred.  However, this type of surface is associated with a higher incidence of rippling or wrinkling around the implant edge.  Please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon in person to discuss the details of textured vs. smooth breast implants.
