Patients always ask which breast implant is better, saline or silicone. There is no correct answer however I will say that the majority of my patients choose silicone implants for breast augmentation due to the natural feel. The silicone implants are made of a very thick gel, similar in consistency to a gummy bear candy. They are very durable and feel very natural to the touch. Saline implants are filled with sterile salt water and feel natural in most cases. However, in patients who are very thin or have little breast tissue, saline implants can occasionally be felt through the skin. This is known as rippling or wrinkling and can sometimes even be visible through the skin. In the event that a saline implant should deflate, it is very easy to detect. Silicone breast implant ruptures on the other hand are very difficult to detect-an MRI is required. One final factor is the cost of silicone which is about 2000 dollars more than silicone. “Dr Bruno is a true artist! I had 2 big procedures done: tummy tuck and breast lift with revision and I was amazed by his attention to detail. He is advanced and skilled. I went to a few consultations with other plastic surgeons…but found Dr Bruno to be the best most recommended. His before and after photos also confirmed for me that I’m making the right choice. The recovery with him was amazing. His staff is very knowledgeable and friendly as well. They made the financials straight through and we’re not pushy or aggressive. I highly recommend him!”
