Many women desire fuller larger breasts but may also require a breast lift at the same time. This is commonly seen in women who have had multiple pregnancies. Many women want to know what they will look like with breast implants. This can be difficult for patients to visualize or imagine until the actual surgery is performed. Which breast implant is best?

Most patients in my practice will choose a silicone gel breast implant over saline because of its more natural feel. This does not necessarily mean that silicone is superior to saline. The vast majority of patients select silicone breast implants because they prefer the feel of silicone compared to saline. They both look very similar once surgically inserted, however, silicone does feel more natural. Some surgeons will recommend one or the other to their patients based on their experience or personal preference. I let each patient feel both implants and then decide for themselves. Fat transfer to the buttock/gluteal area is a great way to enhance and reshape your buttock. It can actually do more than just increase the size of your buttock, this surgery can define your waistline and create an hourglass figure by resculpting the hips as well. The procedure involves liposuction to redistribute fat from unwanted areas (lower back,thighs,abdomen) to desired areas where it is needed (buttock, hips). This is commonly referred to as a Brazilian buttock lift. The best candidates for this type of surgery are healthy patients who are slightly overweight. Some fat is needed in order to have a good result because a certain percentage of the fat cells will shrink after surgery. What is a mini-tummy tuck?

A mini-tummy tuck in Beverly Hills involves an incision which isn’t so “mini”. The actual incision is only a few inches shorter than a full tummy tuck. The procedure addresses primarily the lower portion of the abdomen and is best suited for thinner patients who have some loose skin and stretch marks from pregnancy. The belly button is not reshaped or moved during a mini-tummy tuck in contrast to a full tummy tuck. A full tummy tuck will remove more skin and fatty tissue and allow for a more complete muscle tightening of the abdominal wall. Most patients who have had at least one pregnancy are candidates for a full tummy tuck; however I do see one or two patients a year who qualify for a mini-tummy tuck. What is the best type of liposuction?

Patients are always asking me which type of liposuction works best. There are many advertisements for liposuction in Beverly Hills as well as the whole country which claim to have minimal scarring and minimal downtime. Smart lipo, laser lipo, ultrasonic lipo, tickle lipo, etc are some of the common forms patients see in the media. They claim the fat can be frozen, melted or “dissolved” with minimal to no downtime. There are no good long term scientific studies on these methods to date. The truth is that traditional liposuction which is performed through tiny incisions is still the best and remains the gold standard in liposuction. The success of liposuction depends more on the surgeon and the patient’s skin tone than it does the technology. Don’t be fooled or deceived by the numerous claims of “no recovery”procedures. These are generally gimmicks and have substandard outcomes. If a patient has loose skin or stretch marks in an area, then no form of liposuction will give a good result. What is a lip augmentation?
