3D Photographic Simulation Brings a New Dimension to Plastic Surgery
New technology allows patients to preview how they may look with cosmetic procedures
If you are one of the thousands of people each year considering aesthetic plastic surgery, Dr. Bruno has some good news for you. Recent advances in three dimensional (3D) photography, combined with revolutionary new software, allow prospective patients to preview what they may look like as the result of breast augmentation, facial procedures and more- well in advance of any surgery. This technology along with Dr. Bruno's skill leads to greater satisfaction with surgical outcomes.
Both the VECTRA® 3D camera and Sculptor™ software which make this possible were developed by Canfield Imaging Systems of Fairfield, NJ, the world’s leading provider of medical photography systems. The process starts with a VECTRA 3D session, which produces a three dimensional photograph of the patient in a matter of minutes. Then using Sculptor software, Dr. Bruno is able to simulate the expected results of a variety of aesthetic procedures.
Patients appreciate that for the first time, they’re able to see a 3D representation of themselves with their new look. Because it’s in 3D, the image can be rotated to any viewpoint, and patients can clearly visualize the desired result. Dr. Bruno can make changes until you agree on a final look in advance, which truly helps in the decision making process. This helps patients in setting realistic goals for their plastic surgery outcomes. These are computer simulations and actual surgical results may vary.
Now, the Vectra 3D Breast Sculptor™ system allows you to get an unprecedented look at the results of your breast augmentation surgery during your consultation, before the surgery takes place.
The Breast Sculptor™ system consists of both digital imaging equipment and a computer terminal. Using precisely arrayed digital imagers, a three-dimensional virtual model of your torso, from your hips to your neck, is constructed. This model can be rotated to be viewed from any angle. In addition, significant features of your anatomy — such as your breastbone, collarbone, ribs, and nipple — can be marked to provide reference points for the software to calculate relevant figures such as the volume of your natural breast tissue and the shape of your rib cage that can affect the results of your breast implant surgery.
Once the base image has been established, Dr. Bruno can work with you deciding on the size, shape, and type of breast implant you need to receive the result you are seeking. The software includes specific values based on the actual implants available, so that the virtual implant will match the size and shape of the implant Dr. Bruno will use. The software can even show the difference between silicone gel and saline implants, and the placement of the implant can be adjusted by Dr. Bruno to reflect fine-tuning during the breast implant surgery. It can also show how using different sized implants can correct breast asymmetry.
Since the model is in three dimensions, it can be rotated to allow you to see it from any and all angles. Views such as side by side comparisons and translucent overlays help you to decide on the results you are seeking. The system is a powerful aid in making decisions about your breast augmentation surgery, and other procedures such as rhinoplasty, chin implants and many more.
